I'm pretty sure that my car has developed rod knock, but I just want to be absolutely certain before I go looking for another supra / contemplating rebuild.
Recently, the engine has been making a faint tapping noise. It isn't audible on startup or while idling, but when the car is anywhere between 2000 - 2500 RPM in any gear there is an audible, but still faint, tapping noise. If the car hits any sort of boost while driving, the tapping noise goes away. Today while I was driving, my oil pressure just dropped out of nowhere. I made my way back to my house (less than a mile away) and parked. I put a little bit of oil in the car to be safe. I went through one by one and pulled the plug wires and then slowly revved the car to see if the tapping noise would go away, and it did when I pulled the #6 wire. I also noticed a small puddle of oil under my car after it had been sitting for about 10 minutes (by small I mean approximately the diameter of a soda can).
After searching a bunch of times and reading all the threads on rod knock, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that my car does in fact have rod knock. I just watned some opinions to be absolutely sure that I diagnosed it correctly. Any insight / ideas that might help, or tests that I could perform to further verify it just let me know. Thanks in advance!
Car is a 1987 turbo 5 speed with 104,xxx miles
