well, now my minor probs don't matter. I have devloped rodknock 6.5k miles into a three thousand dollar rebuild. Isn't that lovely? It was 1 quart of oil over at the time, as it always is with no oil leaks or burning. I can barely hear it but its a bottom end tap. Still have 25 psi of oil pressure at idle and over 40 at 2k rpm. Dunno what caused this one.....

If you can barely hear it maybe you got lucky - I would pull the motor now and look at it. You might not have a very big problem and before everything gets major damage you can figure out the cause of your problem.

I don't know......I'm going to pull it this weekend. My crank and bearings are under warranty......I'll probably just replace both

well if I pull the engine, I'm gonna change the crank and all the bearings just for security sake because I don't like pulling 7m's.....And in the meantime, I'm going to be building a better more powerful engine for it.....

I am sorry to hear that. Your car sounded and ran fine the other day when i saw it. That scares me since mine does have that cam rattle in it. I do hope mine last well forever. Maybe you hurt something when you were playing with that vette.

Isnt that car your daily driver?

I bought a crank from advance auto, but had it checked at the machine shop, I rechecked the clearances myself with plastigauge......they where all perfect. The crank was listed at .10/.10 Its still under warranty, no biggie. only thing though. The car didn't make the noise today. I got the stethescope out and listened, still nothing.....can I have intermentent(sp) rod knock?

You cannot have a rod knock that comes and goes as it pleases....

Once those bearings start to fail....its all over and downhill....it persistantly and often times QUICKLY gets worse and all of the sudden...BOOOM..blow a rod through the block...LOL

May be it helps: check other devices: alternator, power steering pump. My PS pump makes taping noise, when the engine is not warm yet... An yes, It goes away and comes in, when it wants ;-) (typical bearing failure)

yes I did, but I was running a quart and a half over and checked my oil after every pass. I also watched the oil pressure gauge at the end of each pass and it all looked ok....
