Yes, tell us why it happened!
I would really like to know why.
Many will say you did not have enough oil in there, BUT I know some are getting rod knock who have enough oil in their motor.

Another reason may have been from having compromised oil because you once had a BHG and the oil and the coolant mixed, and bearings don't like milkshakes as a lubricant.

Or did you build with improper tolerances? If you had too much clearance between the crank and the bearings, that too can lead to rod knock.

Was your oil pressure fine before this? If for some reason you had low oil pressure, that too can be a leading factor.

As far as what you can do now with your car, I will type you another post with your options. I have that prewritten somewhere but I have to run outside now :p

Is there a certain way to rebuild the engine that will help against rod knock, even if you go low on oil for a bit? Better bearings or something? Why is rod knock such a big problem for the 7M when other engines are more tolerant?

I had low oil one night and decided to drive 120mph. That's when it happened.

i did that exept i started with 5 quarts and by the time i was done pegging the spedo i pulled over in the middle of nowhere to check level and dipstick looked dry, i barely had a drop on the tip so i shut if off and me and my freinds walked 5 miles to my freinds car where we drove another 3 miles broke into his sisters garage at 2 am took a couple quarts of valvoline topped my car off and drove it home.

but yea i think we solved the mystery of your rodknock.

Dennis got the car checked out first. It could be in the head hopefully, but still the way it sounded today it could be rod knock. Especially if you ran with low oil pressure, but my guess is rod knock.

My gauge also reads that i have low oil pressure SOMETIMES, but its the stock gauge which i don't trust to much.

Whats up with this? Mike and i both get the supras on the road and you and charlie are off the road. I hate this Sh*t.

We have low oil pressure at idle.
This is ok because we have 29 bearings in the motor plus a turbo sucking lots of lube from the pump.
Once the motor reaches 1500-2000, however, the pressure should begin to climb up to the relief valve's set rpessure of 40 psi. With proper tolerances, you should have 40 psi by 2300 or so.
