Rim/tire question

Ok. It's time I started thinking about my rim/tire situation. All these threads of tires rubbing has gotten me worried. I'm getting 18x9 with a 12 offset in the front and 18x10 with a 30 offset in the back. I will be sitting on Tein Type Flex coilovers. Would I have any issues with rubbing? Which tires would be ideal? I have trouble understanding the offset/rubbing/tire size b.s. No matter how much shite I look at, I will not understand it. Thanks for the help if I get any.

? anyone? If it helps anymore the coilovers drop the car 1.77" in the front and 1.34" in the back.

Ok, well how about the offsets? Will they fit nice or will I need spacers to make them look better?

all i can input is i have
19x8 +40 up front
19x9.5 + 35 rear

fit is near perfect

not sure how the +12 will be, might stick out a tad:naughty:

I think that a +12 offset would stick out past the fender for sure. Stock is about + 35, so you would probly run into problems with the car being lowered.

Yeah, with those offsets you will be out past your fenders and you will rub, sorry. Spacers will only make them stick out more.
If that is the size wheels you want to run, look at what Nate posted for a good offset.

A lower # offset will move the wheel out toward the fender.
A higher # offset will move the wheel in toward the suspension.

You also have to take into account the wheels width when you figure what offset you need.

18x9x38 offset front and rear 285/35 rear is getting close to the Spring
265/35 front has plenty of spring clearence but is close the the fender lips.

Ok, old thread, same rims, different offsets. I found out they had a +25 for the front and +30 for the back? Will these fit?

Not exactly sure if that'll be enough, but offsets are in mm. the +30 mm in the back should be fine, but I would check out this thread: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28828 and see what other people are running.

Ok, basing measurements off of my MKIV TT rims on my MKIII, which have about 1/4" clearance between the 285 tire, and spring:

Your rears will JUST fit. They MAY rub if your suspension was completely extended, but that's not an issue when driving.

Your fronts however, will probably rub against the inside of the fender when you're at full lock, unless you're running at most, a 265.

No problem. But the problem shouldn't be your fenders themselves, if the wheel is going to rub, it will probably rub the edge of the tire against the inside of the wheel well at full lock (or close to)

This question is easily answered by measuring how much space you have on the inside and outside edges of your current setup. Then put your numbers into the calculator at the above link and let it tell you what is going to happen.
