there's been a few running around CA that are RHD, but I think all those were imported. You might as well slice your eyeballs open with a hot butter knife before you try and register a RHD supra with a permanent VIN.

if you mean a RHD conversion from LHD...well you might as well get a front clip and find yourself a DAMN good welder.

actually....if you were to import a 3.0GT (7M) from japan, then slap on a charcoal canister, EGR, and some cats, you should be able to pass the emissions part. Then later you can just put in a 1JZ. I wonder if you need crash data though....

To even get a RHD car over in the US they have to do crash testing data. I know this for a fact with cars that weren't originally released in the US, like skylines and silvias. I read an article on that in some import magazine a while back. I feel sorry for the poor guys that have to provide the vehicles for crash testing...:sadwavey:

yes, but there have been a few running around CA with legal registration...i know that for a fact, one guy sold one on here.

does that mean there already is crash data floating around out there? I'm sure you could get the motor to pass emissions, just talk with a RI that's close with you.

another option would be having the chassis sent over, then the engine sent over out of the car. Should pass customs because it isn't a full working unit, then when you get them just put it together and register it as a kit car....not 100% sure if that will work or not, but I've heard of it being done.

I would rather be on right hand side while driving just to be farther away from oncoming traffic. If a friend ever asks I'd say, "I like you all and stuff, but if we're in a head on colision, it's either you or me man, and I like my chances a little better by being farther away" ;).

actually, my reasons for wanting one extend beyond just being different. I met a guy in vegas with a RHD skyline who has all kinds of stories to tell. Imagine the shenanigans you can pull by having a passenger and a spare steering wheel!

plus, the look on the kid's face at KFC when I pull up for a bucket...priceless.

In America, driving a RHD car is also unsafe in many ways...

but then again, what isn't?

If you're doing it to be different, then I'm down.

I just get annoyed when a 16yo kid gets done watching F&F & decides that they want RHD and wants to try to find drifting lessons for cheap. :p

its not that dangerous to be in a rhd car in north america. highway dricing is a little interesting but manageable.

only down side i can see is stupid people asking stupid questions all the time and a bit of a hassle to get i registered. even that is manageable.

I'll sell any of you guys my geniune RHD Supra( TT GA70) for 1500 USD as soon as I leave for the States next summer. To get it registered you'd have to swap out the glass, bumper, lights, speedo and a few other things. The whole process must be done by and RI( registered importer) and it usually takes about 8 months or so to get your ride.

why the glass and bumper? id assume the crash support up front is the same and all the glass on my JZA70 has DOT stamps on it. is it different on your GA70? or are american regulations different?

American regs are different. The glass here in Japan, at least on older vehicles isnt UV cut I believe. Also here in Japan they dont have 5mph bumper regs that the US has.
