Guys, i got my head resurfaced the other day and a friend is gonna deck my block for me @ work ( engine builder ). He wanted to know if i could reuse my old MHG that was in my old engine. I put it in but didnt have the block decked or surfaced ( yeah dumbass me ) and when i put it back together i did'nt even let it run 5 mins and it didnt seal right and started leaking. Its in pretty good shape, but the sealer material from it has started to come off. What do you guys think?

If you're gonna re-use it, make sure all the Viton is removed and then spray it with Permatex copper or Brake Quiet before you install it.

i was told ,by someone who has built more 7m's than anyone knows what to do with, not to ..

IMHO i would just buy another to be safe and know that this time, ALL surfaces are new/perfect..

find a straight edge, a GOOD one, and check the block's deck for warpage. if you only had the head machied, then you need to worry about the block. maybe unseen cracks even. did you / are you using new hardware (bolts/studs)? theres a sticky about reusing mhg's.
