so I've decided I'm getting rid of this car. its just too much money for me. too high maintenince. every time I fix something something else breaks. its to the point where I cant even afford to have a girlfriend. so I'm fixing it to make it sellable, and asking $2000. this is after I finish my targa x-brace. I'm trading up though, I'm getting a '98 subaru impreza with a 2001 front end, and a motor out of a '95 STi. I'll still hang out here(mostly in OT) and I'm gonna get another MK3, just when I can afford it. but, until then, so long, and thanks for all the shoes ;)

So you can't afford to keep your MKIII, so you're buying a newer more expensive car? doesn't really make sense to me, but your decision. Good luck with everything.

None of your fucking business
Sorry to hear it man... These are some exspensive cars. I was in your same situation when I was your age. 5 years makes a big difference. There are plenty of people on this site that are taking care of there cars, so hopefully when you're ready to return someone will have a nice clean turbo for you. good luck!

subarus are less high maintenince, and there are other reasons why I am getting rid of this. like being able to build my credit up, the advantage of AWD around turns, just the average reasons.

EDIT: not tom mention the comfort, and ability to carry more than one passenger, and a working heater, and a turbo.

EDIT NUMERO DOS: these new edit window are pretty cool!

I know the guy whos selling it well enohgh to be sure that he wont dump his problems onto aneone else. although I completly agree w/ IJ's point, there are certain circumstances where buying someone elses modded car is justifiable.

Suprama2251,

Do what will make you happy. Going back to what you said...What's the point of having a Supra if you can't have a honey sitting at the shotgun :icon_conf.

Good luck with the new car!

No doubt, do not buy anything from friends you want to keep. (Cars included, but this goes for used electronics, wheels, tires and other stuff that friends are selling. Be prepared to be dissapointed. There generally is a reason someone is selling something.)

Rarely it's because they are "just moving on" to something else. You know the problems with your car, but you have no idea about the problems of your new car. All cars wear out, some were just built better from the start. (Like the Supra.)

I said I knew him, but I never said we were friends, we dont not like eachother, just, were more like acqaintences(sp?)

and my car wasnt modded when I bought it, it was bone stock, and I didnt do much to it, just some crappy pep boys cone air filter, and a $50 can muffler just to free things up a bit. but it had some leaks when I bought it, so I took it to a mechanic(befor I had a license, or knew anything about cars), and got it "fixed" so when I got my license, I was drivin it, and it started runnin like shit. no idle, oil leaks, and two of the guages didnt work, so I was like wtf? I took it back to the mechanic, and demanded the work done properly. obviously, since it had been awhile, he wouldnt do it for free, and since I was broke, and starting to learn a bit, i decided to fix it myself, well, I got the oil leaks fixed, and I found out that my idle was bad because I had a major vacuum leak. as I was trying to figure out where the leak was, I got tickets, and eventually, a suspended license. so, in the garage, I had plenty of time ot bend low over the engine, and listen to the whistle, 'till it died, at least. finally, I figured out that the intake manifold gasket was blown., so I start to tear it down, pulling the two top sections off, I didnt notice anthing wrong. however, pulling out the lower section(the runners) guess what?? half the bolts were only finger tight, and two were missing! sooooo, taking things in stride, I pull it the rest of the way out, scrape the gasket(all 15 pieces of it) off, and put the new gasket back in. as I was putting everything back together, I noticed some wires hanging out of the harness, no plugs on them, just naked wires hanging from the harness, I feel about, and eventually find a length of wire about 3.5in. long that leads to something on the engine. after much contortion, I see(painfully) that he wire leads to the temp. sending unit. fuck. so i I look up the color code for the wires to the temp guage(not working guage #1) and hey! they match up to the one hanging outta the harness! so now thats hooked up(soldered) and I can continue w/ the re-assymbly of the intake/vacuum system. I hooked everything in the vacuum system up per diagram(had to replace vsv) to ensure proper working-ness. and hey! starts up right off the bat! all that needs to be fixed is the oil pressure guage, it needs a new starter(starting to wear out), and I need to fix the locking system, so I can use a key to start it, so it doesnt need a push-button. that and I'm replacing the front end because some bitch in a passport cut me off(like 3ft between us) and slammed on her brakes(in the SNOW too!). its an N/A btw, an I'll take a reasonable offer if its presented. but I cant sell the car 'till spring, because I want to use that along with my tax return for a huge downpayment, and so I can go pick up the skooby during my spring break.

wow, sorry for the novel

2k is reasonable.
and srry to see you go, rue's are good cars.
as for manitence. I own an NA i pay for college, and rent, books. everything i own. i have a good job i will admit, but I looked into the maintence of newer cars and they cost $$$. so does the car itself. by having the supra i know i have saved myself at least 3k, its a DD too. so i would before you sell it look into how much u know truely this rue is going to cost you.
