well i got done with the hg change about a month ago, but have been waiting for parts to finish it off (because it still overheated after the repair). i got a used radiator off of here (good condition), and swapped back to the stock fan clutch/blade setup. im still waiting for the fan shroud to come though. sooooo it still overheats...in about 10 minutes of driving. i dont think i completely burped the system though. i only let it idle with the cap off for like 5 min.

when i came back from the drive i let the pressure out and it was all steam (air in the system???). then i added quite a bit more coolant so i dont think i even had enough coolant in. the condition of it overheating wasnt to bad though because it was right on the edge of overheating and being okay. i could get on the pedal a little bit harder when the needle would start rising and it would go back down a little. does this sound like air could be the problem??

I'm not sure, but after my HG change the temperature never went above where it normally sat, about the 3/8 mark.

But, I have read that people have had success with flushing/changing radiators.

Good Luck.

well i even flushed the new (used) radiator that i got. i also stuck a hose in the thermostat housing and the heater hose at the back of the head to flush out the whole system. what else could it even be besides air?

another note, my car will not overheat when just idling. it'll only start when i drive.
