Restore Steering Wheel

After searching it seems I have 3 options...

Rewrap it (400 bucks)

Buy a cover (ugly)

Buy leather paint that matches the color and fix with that (?)

I'm leaning towards the leather paint, however I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it, or with restoring a steering wheel? (88 wheel)

Thanks

88 wheel? They are ugly as hell. Buy a new Momo wheel or similar. It will run you under $300 and its such an improvement to the interior, and I felt like it was just a whole lot better to hold while driving too.

I would but I wanna keep a tan interior, and I don't have much money, and I don't mind the look of the 88 wheel...

When I save up money I'm gonna get the car painted, get speakers + subs, then prolly a momo wheel

Thanks

Just buy a second hand replacement or go the aftermarket MOMO route.

You'd have to be bloody nuts to spend $400 on a TAN 88 wheel.

I think I'm gonna try the paint... I'm not expecting it to work as the wheel is in pretty bad shape, but if it works, I'll use it on the shift knob, and parking brake handle.

The reason I wanna keep it stock is that the rest of the car is pretty perfect interior wise (no scratches, reupholsted seats, boots) etc.

This is gonna sound wierd but there is another option that can be done on the cheap and still look almost like factory. I did this for my Cherokee and I loved how it felt.

If you can find a tan version of the genuine leather covers that you can buy at walmart they can be adapted and sewn on in place of your old wrap. Without going too much into detail unless you decide to go that route, it will cost you about $40 total and take a few hours to complete.

If you want to go this route I can PM you the details.

this is what I ended up with:

Also, isnt someone else on this board recovering wheels for a price? I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Someone has a JZA70 wheel listed on ebay right now, looks mint and that's what his description says, but it's black.

The reasons I brought this up was because it's a stock wheel (will go with your look), black goes with anything (other interior parts are black, and if you buy a momo wheel it would more than likely be black as well), and I'm about 95% sure it's going for around 140 (160 buy it now, not 100% because it was earlier today and I have the WORST memory :icon_razz)

that was around $150 (and it is just the camera that makes it look blue - it is the exact same color as the wheel was, minus the scuffing and all)

Thanks for the replies guys... believe it or not I am pretty broke and can't spend more than maybe 50 bucks, so I'm gonna go with the leather paint, It can't look worse than it does now (will post pics when I get the chance)

Thanks for looking up all the wheels tho
