resonator question.....

I recieved my resonators today, but I have a question about them. They are 3" on the in & out side, but in the middle 12" section, it chokes down to about 2.5". This section is perforated & I assume that there is some sort of sound absorbing material behind it, so I don't think that it will be much of a restriction if at all since the exhaust . Does anyone disagree?

the perforated area is usually packed w/ fiberglass.

it shouldnt be too restrictive, but if you dont like how restrictive it is, take one of the resonaters out.

If it goes from 3 inch to 2.5 inch, it is a restriction. Your exhaust is only as big as your smallest section. So effectively you are running a 2.5 inch exhaust with that resonator.

Mark, yeah the bottle neck into 2.5 is going to be a restriction. What kind of resonators are they? I'd try to get them swapped out for ones that have a 3" core section.

Depending on make, I might be able to tell you someplace local that will swap them out for you if a 3" core section is availible.
