Removing My Engine... What is this?

I'm pulling a 7mge from my supra and when removing the harness I found this stuffed under the charcoal canister, not bolted in or anything, attached to the harness with a red and yellow wire.

Other than this I'm happy with everything so far, last owner seemed to care... the engine has arp studs, bosch +4 platinum plugs, had redline tranny fluid, and other signs that it was taken care of are there.

If only the oil filter gasket didn't give... (rodknock)

Any hints for engine removal are very welcome ;)

That right there looks like an egr vaccum modulator. It goes below your intake. usually with some vaccum lines hooked to it. And engine removal. I see its always easier to leave the transmission atatched to the motor. I pulled my top intake off to get to my wiring harness. There are about 4 wires that go through your intake that need to be unplugged. One goes to your altenator two go to that thing and another in your hand. And one goes to your tranny. Its always good to take your radiator out. Take your fan off. The turbo if you want to. driveshaft. The two bolts holding your motor mounts on. Under the car. Tranny mount. And anything else that would e holding you motor in.

It looks nothing like the EGR modulator and although it could be mistaken for the EGR VSV it's not that either. Bryan got it right. As for engine removal you might want to look at this:

way ahead of you on the list ;)

Got all the simple stuff done...

all thats left is removing radiator, sticking a jack under the tranny strapping up the engine, and undoing all the bolts holding it in the car then pulling it out.

I hope to put a turbo engine back in, but if my NA can be rebuilt then thats what will end up happening
