Alright. So my tail lights are no longer lighting up when I hit my headlight switch. The thing is, it isn't the bulbs, because they still light up when I apply the breaks. It also isn't the fuse, I checked it and swapped it with another one just in case. The guy at the parts place suggested it COULD be the failed light sensor. They did seem to go out at about the same time I hit a pot hole with the rear wheels severely jolting the car. And the failed light sensor IS located back there. But anyways, I'd like to try the relay first so I found out the same type of relay is used for the power windows so now my question to you, oh great collective ken, is how do I remove the relay? Does it just pull directly out and plug directly in? I'm afraid of using too much force unless I know for sure how to properly remove it. So any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think if you bypass (hard wire) it youll constantly get the "tail lights out" light on the dash.

Im sure you could hard wire them or maybe use a resistor. Im not really a wiring expert though.

Looks like they may have changed plugs, probably during the 89 model year. What year is yours? Does it look like connector Z here?

To bypass the sensor module, you would jump pins 4 and 10 (green and green-red wires). The schematic is here.

Note that jumping 4 and 10 will illuminate the warning lamp on the cluster. Best bet is to open up the sensor and check for a fried current sense resistor or burned out circuit trace. You can jumper the burned out trace and get a new resistor from mouser.com or some other electronics parts place.
