Looking for some help, I've found this on CL.
http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/1899299537.html

So it looks like it could be fixed, so I went and saw it.
Took some pictures.
Is it worth saving? And how much would you give for it?

I know pictures are a bit dark, it was like 8pm when I got there.

Radiator support is destroyed, passenger bumper support is bent downward, passenger front fender mounts are crumbled..

So sad to see this :( Interior is %100.

Is it worth $900?

And odds of the frame being tweaked? High or low? Is it worth fixing? How much would it cost to fix it?

The two motors and interior may be worth something, but theres no way I'd use that shell.

Thing is the interior is the only thing that I would use :(
And no way I'd give him more than 900 for everything.

With how fucked up that thing is the frame will most likely have to be pulled. If you have a shop fix it you're probably looking at a few grand. If you do it yourself i would think you could get it all fixed for under a grand. Depending on if you get junkyard core supports and what not. Of course you would still have to bring it to a frame shop and have it pulled. For the condition of the rest of the car you would probably be better off trying to get it for around a grand then just find a good shell and swap everything over.

Id offer the guy $900 like you said. Take the car to a body shop and restore her to service man!

This is what I kinda want to do, because body work....well its not my foray.

A friend of mine here locally scored a beautiful non-running MKIII for $800. He's a member on here as well. Absolutely no body damage & mint interior.
I wouldn't touch that Supra you're looking at for anything more than $300. Unless you have access to a frame rack that you can use for free, have the know how to use it, and know how to section body parts on it don't mess with it. Once you get an estimate for all of that body work it'll make your tummy ache. Oh, and good luck with getting aftermarket body parts for that dinosaur. All they're going to do is find another MKIII and chop that one up for parts.
The owner of that car needs to part it out and toss the shell.

This is what I've got running in the back of my mind....maybe I should tell him I'll give him 400 for the interior :p

If that's what it's worth to you then make the offer. There's just know way I'd offer $900 for a wrecked/frame bent car with two unknown condition engines. Has mint interior though.

The only reason i would offer 900 is to part the car out and keep the black leather interior, from the pics the front seats dont look half bad and as long as the rest of the interior isnt jacked to me its worth it but thats just me. Black leather is hard to come by and would be a waste for that car to go to the wrecking yard as is.

I'll toss my vote in on 1k for the interior at least... if it's in good shape of course. Maybe offer him $500 for just the interior, who cares about the rest? Can't be much there you don't already have or need...

Yes on buying it for parts if the interior is really that clean and you want it.

Absolutely NO to trying to make it run again unless you have the skills and knowledge to do all the work yourself. You're looking at thousands and thousands of dollars to have that repaired ($5K+ at least)

i mapquested me to him and it's like a 6-7 hour drive, if it wasn't that far i would gladly pay him 1k for his interior alone.

First, check the engine to be sure that the crank didn't take an impact - if it did the motor may be toast.

With that said, I'd buy it for $900 and strip it. The interior is probably the most valuable thing on it. I wouldn't use that chassis.

Salvage title or regular title?

He said it has a regular title, but didn't show it to me, I'm a bit confused as to his story, he said his kid wasn't at fault and the other driver hit his kid, the insurance didn't total the car out and he didn't get any money from it. The other driver is also trying to sue him for getting hurt...it was all a bit vague...:/

I think I'll call him and offer him 400 for the interior and I'll strip it out. I really wish this car was in better shape, but just looking at the pictures more, like poodles said....5k at least to get it back on the road :(

Both drivers probably only have liability insurance and the fault is not clear cut.

He probably needs to counter sue if he feels the other guy is at fault. Sounds like a mess.

The interior looks nice - would be a good addition to any MK3 in decent shape.
