Recommend the K&N intake kit?

so i was gonna get the HKS SMF intake from 935motorsports..but its on backorder...i could get my money back..or i just get a K&N one from the site instead and save transaction time. should i go for it? which one is better? pros cons?

I was looking at that today. So much cheaper and I guess its just because of the reproduced plate. Im interested as well.

i dont know if i trust k&n as much as i used to after hearing some of the things people say about em. theyre apparently just like rock catchers. Yeah, they allow alot of flow, but they also let alot of crap through from what i hear. And for the price, id rather get a no name cone filter, but hey thats just me haha

yeah um .. were talking in microns. theres dirt and dust all over. Not so good for the longevity of a motor.. by "rock catcher" i mean rocks are just about all they can filter out.:icon_bigg

The HKS is junk. Its just a piece of foam. My K&N has been fine for over 2 years. The best filter for our cars is the Apex-i kit. The Blitz is good also but is pricey. I believe supra90turbo has an AEM dry filter that is supposed to be good. Maybe he will chime in.

i have the K&N, works great for me... also had it on my WRX, worked good there for over 4 years.

i have a K&N and no complaints yet at least....
but i heard the apexi filters more and makes our cars take in air more efficiently
if i knew about apexi when i was first modding i would of gotten the apexi kit!

I wish I had the link to that old filter test. Basically, the HKS super dirt flow ranked the lowest. I'd use a sock before wasting money on it.

Just don't over oil the K&N when you clean it the first time. Or you end up with a lean signal and air flow meter signal codes.

It is apparently a very good filter. I would get the Apex-i if I were looking for the tested "best" filter.

I opted for the a'pex integration power intake kit. I baught it off e-bay for $98+ shipping. so far it's working pretty good. I get +1 lb of boost from it too :love:

I have th APEXi as well and it works great!!! Sounds nice too..
