so it has become that time when i need a new motor, or most likely need one. i blew my headgasket road racing and possibly screwed something else up since i found alot of oil coming out of my pcv.
so what i'm thinking is:
Option1: get a gte with rodknock free from a friend, do a stock bottom end rebuild and possible head rebuild, w/ ard studs and a MHG and throw my rebuilt ct26 back on it and run it at 13psi like i was before. approximate cost is $1.5k
option2: do a 1uz swap out of a 98 1uz (300hp crank hp) pop it in and call it day. get exhaust done and thats about it. approximate cost is $2k
what i like: i dont need a crazy high horsepower car, i dont race the car other than road racing, so reliability is key. in both situations i would be reusing my w58 since i just bought a spec clutch for it. I just want a car that can keep its own with the newer sports cars of today. i was plenty happy with the 300rwhp i had before with the na-t. i'm not quite sure how much a newer gen 1uz will put out with an exhuast.
im curious to hear opinions and im open to other suggestions as well. i figured i wouldn't do a jz swap because i would be spending alot more on new IC setup, r154trans and clutch, dp and other random parts
