Alright my orginal plan was to buy a jdm engine but after hearing some bad things about them i decided to rebuild. So i am going to be putting the enging back together this week. I have probe .040 orver pistons eagle rods, new oil pump from drift motion, hks metal hg, new gaskets. I got the blocke bored and honed along with resurfaced, i resurfaced the head as well, i got the head port and polished, polished only one exhaust(heard that was best way to go) then re seated the valves and thats stuff, balanced the crank, harmonic balancer, and fly, Also polished the cams and crank. Now my questions are 1) what kind of power difference am i looking at now with all this? 2) what are some good tips for while i am putting it back together? Thanks all ideas are help full.

well, a few more CC's and the p/p might help a tad, but power gains will come from your bolt ons (turbo, fuel system, exhaust etc). The Balancing and polishing and all that should allow for a few more usable RPM's but in your case you have a nice base platform that should support some nice upgrades.

Add some bigger injectors, better fuel pump, AFPR, an upgraded turbo and a good engine managment system and tune to your pleasure ;)

I come from a land down under
Both would be within the error/tolerence of a chassis dyno ;)

"Ported" .... was it flow benched before and after?

Many "port jobs" will show little gain or a gain so high in the power curve as to be useless for a car with a stock ECU/RPM limit.

Were the reversion dams on the exhaust side left in place or were they port matched to the exhaust?

heh IJ, thus my reason for the use of the words "might" and "tad" :D
I was basically agreeing but going one step further to state that it sounds like a good solid base for BPU's (assuming its built right).

browse that section for tips and tricks.

If you are assembling it yourself these are useful threads:

Proper tools, torgue specs, torque sequences, assembly fuilds (lube, anti-sieze, thread lock etc.) proper measurement/use of plastigage are all areas I would recommend knowledge or research on if you are doing your own assembly. A mentor or someone else with 7m experience is also a good thing to have over your shoulder.

If you are having a shop assemble then I would just make sure they have 7m experience.

So with the engine being built like i plan i will turn the Ct-26 to about 10psi, Power??? i hope around 300 for now

no a/f mods stock ct at 10lbs wont be quite 300 I dont think. Im guessing more like 250-260? but you could pretty easily get the Lex/550 combo and a couple more lbs boost in the 300 range.
