ok well im doing a compression test tommrow but im almost 100% sure i have a BHG.

Well thursday I go to my mechanic to get priced out how much its all goign to cost. I figure while the heads off I might as well get as much stuff replaced
(seals, gaskets etc.)

SO I have been using the search button alot, but i also need some straigh up info and opions.

So I figure an OEM hg with some arp bolts or studs at 80ft lbs of toruqe is good????

Not sure what a good level of torque is but from what I have been reading 80 seems preety good(let me hear your opions, theories ect.)

Also for the ARP's what should I get studs or bolts?? and where do I order a set of theses from????

Also what do u think I should all get replaced while the mechanic has the head off??

any opions, info, links, etc is greatly appreciated. I really need your guys help on this as I want it done right. I don't have any major hp plans for it mabye around 12 psi when its all said and done would be plenty more then enough for me. Also don't tell me to get a MHG as thats way too expensive and as I said I don't have any major plans for major hp.

Ok, in that case you'll need a head kit, that will cover almost all the gaskets. Also buy a new timing belt and front main oil seal - it's only a little more work to change those, as opposed to several hours of labour if you want to do it later.

Also, there are a bunch of coolant hoses that run around the top of the block, just under the head. Replacing all of those should cost you under $50, and save you hours of heartache later when they start to split. You *CAN* replace these with the engine still together, but it's not fun, and it takes hours of effort.

ARP headbolts will work fine, torque them to the spec on the included instructions. I'm not sure what your options are for ordering performance parts over there in big sky country, but locally I'd order them from Mopac. Headstuds are neat, and if you ever intend on going balls out on the engine, I'd say get 'em now, but if you have no intentions of walking that road, then save yourself a few bucks and go with the bolts.
