It's amazing how slow a rebuild goes until EVERYTHING is ready to go and you're still on the 'puter researching young ladies that might look good in your ride. BUT, I'm here to ask:

1.How perfectly smooth does the head mating surface have to be? I always hear about the block but not the Head.

2.I have a HKS MHG from HPF, but the plys are a little separated, is it an issue?

3.I have three BOV's stock, bosch 110 and a greddy type r knockoff (with associated hp) is there one setup that I should use over the other?

4. Before putting everything in should I pull my I/C and Oil cooler clean and test them?

5. Motor oil: During break-in and then normal running what are the preferred oils?

5. I wanna clean the bay while everythings out, Can I use a pressure washer on the bottom(away from all the sensitive tid bits)?

6. I've ordered a crankscraper, Has anyone installed of these before? And is there anything I need to know?

7. Other than Ebay, where can I find cam cover bolts?

I'll stop here for now. I going frickin' nuts to be a mobile member of the madness known as 'MANIA, But I'm gonna be leaning on all y'all for help. Any other thoughts that I may have missed are more than welcome.

Thanks, Eric

I come from a land down under
1.How perfectly smooth does the head mating surface have to be? I always hear about the block but not the Head.

As smooth as possible

2.I have a HKS MHG from HPF, but the plys are a little separated, is it an issue?

This is normal

3.I have three BOV's stock, bosch 110 and a greddy type r knockoff (with associated hp) is there one setup that I should use over the other?

I'd always go with 1 good quality one over a knockoff so the 110

4. Before putting everything in should I pull my I/C and Oil cooler clean and test them?

Yes

5. Motor oil: During break-in and then normal running what are the preferred oils?

A single weight Oil with minimal to no additives for break in and depending on budget any high quality oil that meets your temp requirements for daily use.

5. I wanna clean the bay while everythings out, Can I use a pressure washer on the bottom(away from all the sensitive tid bits)?

Yes just don't spray it directly into anything electrical.

6. I've ordered a crankscraper, Has anyone installed of these before? And is there anything I need to know?

I use a Teflon one here and while it was fiddly to fit I think it's worthwhile, make sure the pan is well sealed when you're outting it together and if you have any doubts pull it off and start again.

7. Other than Ebay, where can I find cam cover bolts?

Most towns will have an industrial bolt supplier/shop grab the yellow pages.

you can get a complete set of valve cover bolts from horsepowerfreaks.com for pretty cheap.

My rear exhaust valve on cylinder#5 decided it didn't like the party, so it started a pushing match with the piston, the head got in the way when then piston won. I pulled the head expecting just a BHG.....saw that, dropped everything, went out and got drunk.
Thanks for the responses. The bottom end's done and I'll be reintroducing her to my HEAD hopefully by Friday. I'm getting a little worried that I may miss something. So there will be more questions coming. Eric
