these threads should be grounds for ban now. :aigo:

btw, go with the 1G-GE. It's better than your other options

reliablility might not be an issue at all, the only real determining factor is how well the swap is done and what condition the engine is in, i've heard of some pretty bad japanese motors, never had one myself though. if you really want to know that its gonna be rreliable jut build the 7M and you know everything is right

i feel that the 1JZ is alot more reliable then the 7M but then again if you build the 7M right then they should be equal.....

i myself am going 2J cause i've had experience with both 7M and 1J so now its on to the 2J....

good luck with whatever you decide to do...

The yare all good, 7M's must be built otherwise they will fail, 1JZ's are fun outta the box but lack torque so if drags your bag you got work to do, 2JZ is just the shit. ;)

you can't be serious.. How many 1Js have you driven to be able to make a statement that it lacks torque? My guess is ZERO. Because if you had, you wouldn't make such a stupid statement. :nono:

agreed

280 stock hp and 267.64 ft.lbs. doesn't look too bad.

stock 7m = 232 stock hp and 254 ft lb's of tq.

numbers are just estimated but still. i agree

I think there is a basic missunderstanding here on the 1JZ torque.....

The 7M will make MORE torque at a lower RPM due to it's longer stroke having more leverage it's not rocket science.

This makes a difference in a big Fat car like a Mk3 in normal day to day driving.

I daily drive my car. I don't ever think to myself, "deng, It's taking soooo long to make power." 7M makes its torque a bit earlier but in no way does the 1J have problems moving the heavy Supra. It's not like you're driving uphill and you feel lag lag lag lag lag lag OK finally we're moving. As I've said in other threads, I can hit full boost(.95bar) by 3000RPM. I've had both motors with the same mods, I think I know how they feel.

JAV made a good point. 1J and 7M both make enough torque for our pigs, just in a different way.

Someone's feeling a little bit defensive about the 1jz...................;)

I hope to have one in my car someday, but for right now I'm content with the 7m. I don't want the 1jz for more power, I want it for it's reputation of being alot more dependable and/ or reliable...................lol

heh... after finally rebuilding a 7m rather than just doing seals and throwing it in, I don't see how the 1j is more reliable.

Is there a level of reliabilty higher than running like a raped ape and starting every time?

I say install a IJz, he's reliable.

joe, come dude. every time the 7m and the 1j are in the same sentence you get bent and defensive.

this is an opinion thread. don't make it an angry thread.

I am not bent out of shape at all. Trust me. I understand opinions but when some opinions are 100% wrong(wills7mgte), I don't have a problem saying something. As far as Ian's comment, we have an understood mutual respect and we can have a debate without getting butthurt at each other. If it bothers you so much, don't read it. I'm not bothered at all. :)
