So, i came to the conclusion ima rebuild my jdm shit motor. But i was wondering if i would run into any problem withe the check engine light coming on or passing emisions, becuase the jdm motor came with it looks like factory egr block off plates. Also besides head work im jus gonna hone the cilenders and replace pistons rings and berings will this setup suport for 350hp at the wheels in a daily driver?

as long as you do everything right then yeah it'll hold that kinda power. definitely do a metal head gasket and arp head bolts or studs. and some arp rod bolts would be a good idea too.

Deleted egr won't light your check engine light.

Only ECU monitored systems (smog, efi, electrical) can throw a code and thereby turn your check engine light on.

I don't know what state you're in... but here in California; if your check engine light is on, it is an automatic fail on the smog test . Also, (in Ca.) the visual inspection performed as part of the smog test will reveal the lack of an EGR...you guessed it = automatic fail. :3d_frown:

Yes you will fail, that is why usdm comes with egr valve. And to answer your other question.... even if you rebuild with oem pistons it will hold that power easy. As long as you know what you are doing, if not take it to a shop.

Wrong. ;)

I know quite a few reliable people who have passed smog tests w/o the EGR with a 7m. They just threw on the stock cat system to pass.

I plan on doing this myself as well since my EGR took a crapper awhile ago.

Edit: FTR, This is PA emissions, which is no joke compared to some states, it must be performed on a dyno. CA emission however will most likely fail, they are the most strict and for good reason. However he's in MD so it shouldn't matter much

^^^ Good luck with that. I tried every trick I know to get it to pass AZ emissions without an EGR. Didn't happen...I ended up installing it.
In fact, my new FFIM has a provision for the EGR.
