Basically to be effective the wing needs to sit in clean air above the turbulent air created by the drop in height from the roof to the boot. Depends if you are racing it because there will be requlations on how high it can be. If not then it depends if you like how it will look high up. For maximum effect i would think the bottom of the wing needs to be level with the roof line.

Unless you're seriously tracking the car, it's just going to attract attention, usually not of the good kind.

and remember the wing is only as effective as the rest of the areo stuff it is combined with.
you need a front splitter, a underbelly pan and a rear diffuser to make any substancial downforce. and without the rest of the areo stuff you can upset the balance of the car

Front splitter is good (lip works as well, key is to get the front low to stop air from going under car), underpan and rear diffuser are difficult to do.

did not say it would be easy, just stating facts. a rear wing will cause the front to get light without the reat of the areo stuff in place and properly placed, causing an unbalance in the handling.

this is why race cars are not good streetcars

Well, if you strip a MKIII down for racing they tend to be very nose heavy, so just getting a good lip/splitter and getting a wing to get the back to stick usually works. The car in the pics was pretty damn sweet, wish I had more info on it...

Red one is the S2 car, ebay rips off their images

The white one I took those pics at TX2K7, outside of that dunno enough about the car...

well im setting the car up for daily driving, weekend drifting and autox. basically just a very well balanced car.
i was looking into a front splitter as well but i have the wing already (buddy of mine gave it to me)
i just figured i would put this together one piece at a time and continue researching
one of the cars that im taking inspiration from is this one
t701jz's

this is the look im going for but i wanted a little more functionality from the wing

looks like a cheap spoiler on a stock body from the picts. doesnt even look like the suspension is altered either

That's cool how you can see the suspension from those two pics. ;)

guessing mainly from ride height and car balance in the cornering shot, lots of sway and starting to lift the inside tire. you can see a lot from a still shot.

got any better details to share

i really like the way that t701jz has his wing im wondering if it is actually producing any downforce?
and if it is how is that possible with it being so low to the body and in the turbulent air area
im new to this so please correct me if im wrong

You obviously don't get it do you ? Not trying to be offensive, but you should read up on basic aerodynamics, before you go sticking a wing on a 4,000 lb car, that is going to stick up above the roof and into turbulent air....

ah hell just go ahead and do it. I dont have time to explain it to ya.
