Fourth time trying to post so I may seem short and aggravated. I rebuilt my 7mge. When I assemble and try to crank I lose alott of oil from the rear timing cover (the plate that mounts to front of block and should be machined with the deck height ect.. that cover) I am having a hard time uploading the picture that has my feeler gauges in the area between the cover and block right below the water pump, it doesn't leak until I try to start the engine and it loses a very large amount of oil. Maybe 2-3 quarts. Is there suppose to be this much oil pressure behind that cover or is it just a drain back area. I noticed they sent gaskets from DM for this cover to seal to the engine so I assume it holds oil but did I miss a core plug behind this plate to give it that much pressure? Maybe gasket didn't seal correctly? If anyone has any idea of what's going on or maybe a pic of the front of their bare block so I can see what's going on behind it without tearing the engine apart again I need it for school. Any questions if I confused you or any advice please share. I will be working on posting pics. Thanks so much guys this forum has helped me with all of my other problems. Sorry for typos I'm on my phone haha. Thanks again!

If the seal wasnt installed correctly wouldn't I have oil on my timimg belt? Ites leaking from behind that plate that the seal is on.

Seema I have to be on a computer to drag the picture to be posted.

From what I'm seeing the leak is above that plug, if it was the plug would it not drain down? Is there suppose to be any oil retained behind this plate?

Screenshot_2014-01-29-15-35-24.jpgrps20140131_205952.jpgSo after a few hours in my storage unit with the supra I managed to get the rear timing case off without moving the head, dropped the pan and persuaded it to come off, I will loosen head enough to put a pencil on the deck and replace the case then torque again. However I found the problem as was mentioned previously. How I missed this during assembly blows my mind, this is my first engine to build and have only been in machine school for 6 months. Sooo maybe someone could help me find the thread pitch and size of this plug? Or maybee how I go about finding another, not many supras down here in ms to get a spare. I can't seem to find the old one to measure but I'm getting about .570 with my calipers. Thanks guys.
