Would it be possible to just drop the tranny and change this seal out or do you have to pull the whole engine to do it? Any help or tips on this would be great.
Thanks

I come from a land down under
Can be done by dropping the trans Michael.

Lever the old one out with a screwdriver taking care not to gouge the crank surface clean out the Aluminium housing then apply some #4 permatex to the outer surface of the seal and some grease to the inner and it'll slip right in there.

Worst case you may need to tap it home with a piece of timber and a hammer. (most of em push in with your fingers with the permatex acting as a lubricant and when it sets it holds em in nicely)

Cool thanks and with any luck I will not need to do it. Going in today and hitting the head bolts again been around 500 miles maybe since I did that and redoing the valve covers again hoping they didn't seal correctly.

My Advance Auto Parts had the rear main seal and tranny gasket in stock, so I just picked them up there. Otherwise best place is probably from Jeff Watson. Replacing them while the transmission is out is a smart idea.
