Ok, so we live in the NorthEast, some of us have the dreaded rust/rot over the rear fender. If you have had it fixed, how did you do it? If you brought it to a shop, how did they do it, how much did you pay?

yeah, I did find a nice MK3 in a freetown junkyard, I work with fiberglass, I was gonna attempt to glass it, but I was told thats a bad idea, everyone says cut it out and reweld a new piece, I have a friend at a body shop who said he will do it, just wondering how much.

I looked into replacing the inner wheel wells an found out from a toyota sponser in another forum that theyre discontinued. I recently found horrible rust behind the undercoating in what I thought was a clean car(was previously repaired but they did a bad job) I had alot of water in my quarter panel and rear seat would get wet.

The best fix is to weld in new metal but to do the wheel wells thats a painstaking task and very hard to do in some areas without flipping the car over(in my case the well on the passanger side was rotted out behind the plastic cover for the gas piping) I had to fiberglass mine but would have rather welded in new metal, just didnt have the time or proper tools. I think it will work as I cut out the rust and treated the existing metal.

Any mk3 supra I purchase in the future I will ask to look under the plastic in the hatch and remove the plastic vents in the door jams and look in there with a flash light for signs of rust. You can see almost half of the wheel well/quarter panel from there.

My car is pretty clean, I usually wash at least once a week, I don't drive it in the winter, the only rust/rot is the rear fenders

the inner fender's seem to rot easier then the rear quarter's.that passenger quarter is pretty bad ,imo.i'd be shocked,if i couldn't find inner fender rust.i've seen it on alot of these car's.this is the first place,i'll look when purchasing another one of these car's.they just did a piss poor job from the factory and we live on the snow belt.

I did the same thing and thought the same way, I recommend you chec kit over as good as possible. I hope yours is in great shape and has no other rust, mine rotted out under the coating because of shitty patch job the previous owner did and I didnt know what to look for.

you and i are talking about the same area.the previous owner might have did a shitty patch job,but he did it because there was a problem.one car i parted looked like it would be hard to get in there and fix it.once all the plastic hatch panel's were out you could see how bad it was.i feel if the car has been driven in the winter at some point in it's life, there will be sign's of rust there.
