I don't know if this has been covered before. I can't seem to find the right search terms to find it.

I see a lot of threads dealing with the LSD talking about wheel hop. I don't know if that's the same thing as I have. I don't hear any rear end noises.

Sometimes when I'm getting on it from a standstill, the right rear tries to get around in front. (does that make sense?)

What issue do I have going on?

are you saying that the right end tries to come around and you have to steer a little right to keep going straight? that's because it's a LIMITES slip differential, it still allows the wheels to spin a different speeds and the right wheel is spinning faster so the rear end goes that-a-way. I'm pretty sure that's what i've read anyway.

actually, the cause for the car going sideways is more the engine putting more load on one tire due to the rotation of the engine and the torque it is appying to the body. The tires should be spinning at the same speed or very close to it. If you take an open differential and weld the spider gears, the car will get sideways.... Both tires would HAVE to be spinning the same speed in that case

i'm not sure whether you're talking about wheel hop or just breaking loose. wheel hop can get pretty violent, where the wheels literally HOP up and down. to fix that, you should get some traction bars.

as for breaking the tires loose, get stickier tires, and read that 4.3 diff is fun thread.

haha.... my thread that got jacked...

I still have wheelhop after the traction arms.... I'll be doing all 4 struts next, and if that doesn't help I'll be getting poly bushings.

ive got tein hr's and depending on the height ive got them set to is if i get wheelhop.I had the ass jacked rite up and the nose dumped down an it was very cool (in a mullet hairstylin way).Did the opposite and the steerin went all light and horrible.
So i guess rideheight can affect it too.

I don't have an exact answer for your problem, but in my cases of wheel hop, it felt as if I was driving over bumps; you could feel the vibration of it happening...and some weird sounding humming too, if I remember correctly.
The car did not spin sideways in my cases of wheel hop.
It mostly happened on wet roads during the rain.

Check your rear suspension bushings/pivot points. When they get worn out, there is lots of slop and the rear tires will steer out into a rather drastic oversteer under load.

Jack up the car, and feel for any looseness holding the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock position (up and down) and push in-and-out. If you push hard enough, you may even hear it clank and feel it in your fingers.

If they are the original bushings, chances are very high they'll need replacing.

thanks for the info guys

wheel hop - i don't feel anything or hear any noises. so i don't really thing it's that. i'll check the diff thread.

sideways, (oneandgone)- that's a better description.

bushings - more likely than not are original. i'll check that out.

Confused @ this thread. haha...
From a dead stop, as soon as the wheels spin, the rear will "walk out" sideways? That's what I got out of it anyway...

I don't think it's a problem. My car has done it a few times, and I saw a Mustang in the waterbox at a dragstrip do that, almost got completely sideways too.
