Just finish my rebuild. Went to fill up coolant and i seem to have a leak in the rear of the engine under the EGR plate. Thnx to Rusty89 i have found a picture of the rear and it seems the leak is coming from the circled area. WTF is that round thing? is it a freeze plug? Will i be able to stop the leak with the engine in the car? thnx guys.

freeze plug... those should have all been replaced during the rebuild by the way...

sure its not that coolant union? or the coolant hose on top? or one of the 90 degree bends.

i would check everything to make sure there are no leaks. that 90 degree bend hose is a bitch to replace with the motor in. just make sure eveything is good before you stuff it back in!

UPDATE:

The leak was a MISSING freeze plug. The machine shop forgot to put one in. I confronted him and he said that hes never heard of a freeze plug on the rear and that he didn't mess up. I'm definitely not going there again. Anyhoo it was a 35mm freeze plug that goes right behind the hard coolant line. All is well.

time to find a new engine builder / machine shop. What they thought it was ok to just leave a 35mm hole in the back of the block open?
