:1zhelp: I'm gonna look at a SUP tomorrow (again). I drove it last week everything was going perfect untill I pulled into the sellers driveway. The engine started to chatter and I turned it off imediatley. I poped the hood open. I had the seller start the car while I looked at the motor. None of the pulleys were moving I checked before the drive and it had oil and the coolant was good. He called me yesterday and he got it fixed. His meachanic told him the crank pulley seized.

My question is what could have caused this? and is there anything I should be worried about??

Please I'd like to get som answers before I look at it tomorrow.

A seized crank pulley...

Take a stethoscope with you when you go check it out again and see if there's any strange noises.

A 'seized' crank pulley makes no sense. A seized pulley could only seize to the crankshaft, thus the problem you described would be impossible.

What is possible is that the crank pulley was not turning. The key that aligns it to the crankshaft may have broken.

If it otherwise looks like a really good deal, I would have YOUR mechanic look the whole car over. And check that pulley out.

We charge $50 to inspect a car front to back, and give an itemized receipt with estimate of all repairs needed.:biglaugh:

What a F****** genius. Thats exactly what happened. I'm glad to say I'm the new owner of a '89 TURBO SUPRA. Hope to be around for a while.

While I'm here before I mod I'm gonna have the engine compression tested and leakdown tested.

What should my compression be @?? and if leak test is good with no signs of BHG is it OK to just re-tourque the head?? 75-85 lbs good??

MRnickleEyE how far from LA are you??
