Re-Threading

So i almost got my motor completely done but while i was about to install the manifold
i noticed like 2 exhaust holes are stripped, Bad, i can take the bolt and go in and out.

I cant find the bolt size in the TSRM, i know thread size is 1.25. im thinking 10mm?

Anyways, what are my options? ive never had to deal with a stripped hole on a alum head.
Nor have i ever heli-coil'd anything so im not sure...

I know driftmotion has a exhaust stud repair kit or whatever but man i really dont wanna spend that
kinda money on just 2 holes.

Can anyone give me some options that i have and elaborate on the process?

you really should helicoil em, thats the right way to do it.

I'm with "kotu". You may not want spend it now, but you'll spend more once you figure out that they all are gonna need them. Me personly, I did mine from buying helicoil from "Napa" ( or something similar) and then went to "Nuts R Us" to get the studs.

This should be a :stickie" but that's my opinion.

Ok, i just went and got the OEM 7/16 - 14 heli coil kit from Autozone, which
is just a tad bit bigger than ours, drilled out the old threads and re-tapped all 4.

It's pretty strong, i Tq'd my mani down to 80ftlbs. Someone will get a chuckle out of that lol.

Any reason you went past the spec'd 29lb/ft torque?
Torque specs exist for a reason, maybe u should read up on torquing bolts before you make
a decision like that again.

Just means they're going to pull out sooner after a few heat cycles than they would have if torqued to 30ft/lbs....
