ok, here's my random thought of the day.

I have a really bad habit of cracking my fingers, toes, neck, back, etc

Some of them crack then I have to wait like half an hour til I can do it again. Others like my toes, a few fingers and ankles can be done at will constantly. If I'm not actively doing anything I have to keep cracking those ones that can be cracked. That means while I'm typing right now I'm currently cracking my toes and ankles constantly. When I drive, I crack my fingers on the steering wheel, and my toes on the dead pedal when I'm not shifting.

What bothers me most is when the joints that are supposed to crack on command won't do it. it bothers the heck outta me and feels really uncomfortable almost as much as knowing that I'll feel really uncomfortable if I don't try at all. :icon_conf

I've probably cracked my toes at least 100 times since starting this thread...

cliff notes: I'm fucked.

i read on yahoo a few weeks ago that scientists dont really know what causes the "popping sound" but it's not bad for you at all, if anything it's slightly beneficial...

in moderation of course...

by the way, i crack every single joint in my fingers, 3 per digit..

If one of my fingers does 5 X 10 = 50 right there on my fingers alone.

+ 2 wrists + neck 3 times in each direction + 1 on each shoulder + ~4-5 when the back cracks + 3 on each foot + ~3 in the ankles. oh and my right knee. so whatever all of that adds up to.

I think that mostly covers it... yeah

The idea that knuckle cracking promotes arthritis was brought to you by the same old wives who warned that eyes can stay crossed and palms can grow hairy. No, there is no evidence that cracking your knuckles causes arthritis.

When you bend or pull your fingers, you stretch the lubricant between joints called synovial fluid. In a process known as “cavitation,” bubbles form in the fluid and then burst. There is some relief and increased mobility when the bubbles make that satisfying pop, which helps explain the compulsion to do it again.

Damage other than arthritis is possible but unconfirmed. You could overextend the ligaments, like a baseball pitcher with a bad elbow, and you may lose some grip strength. Other than that, the biggest threat is from the people you are driving insane.

Yea.. If I go to pop something and it's being stubborn, I get really pissed and tweak it even more and even more until it does. And if doesn't; then I have to count to 30, and take a couple deep breathes and hope I forget why I started counting.

In fact, sometimes I try so hard I actually hurt myself in trying to crack it that I actually cause myself more pain than if I had just left it un-cracked....

Man, I wish I was a master of something. I'm stuck with being a suprahero, and it's not all it's cracked up to be. I don't have any really cool powers or anything and I'm powerless to a bhg. I may try and find a different line of work.......................:3d_frown:

If I'm standing, I have to pop my right knee at least every two minutes. Driving I have to pop it at least every five minutes, which is a pita, but whatever.......................:biglaugh:

I used to crack my shoulders all the time by swinging my arms hard behind me, and thanks to that I have had really bad dislocation problems in both shoulders for the last 10 years.

I had surgery on my left, and still managed to dislocate it a couple of times. My right shoulder isn't quite as bad, but I have to be really careful or it will mean another trip to the ER, because I probably only get them back in 25% of the time.

I'd better stick to being a suprahero................:biglaugh:

Tanya, it's got to be more than a coincidence. Seriously, what are the odds that kryptonite looks just like antifreeze?
