Random funny occurence for today

So I was driving to school. And like usual I'm going WOT through the low gears on the street. At the next light, a lady in some Sedan(looked like an Altima, I was not paying attention) pulls up next to me at the red. She motions for me to roll my window down. So I do.

She then says, "Is fire supposed to be coming out of your muffler"


I laughed and said "Yes it does that sometimes." to which she replies "Ok, just thought I would ask. I have never seen that before"



And that is all... I guess you had to be there.

I usually forget mine does that.

I get reminded when driving home from school through the hills between the city next to mine. No street lights so the fire lights up behind me like a headlight... Pretty interesting.

I should be more careful though. It can be seen from quite a distance. Would not want local PD on my ass for that.

I've figured that whenever I hear the car "fart," I just shot a little flame. Isn't it caused by a little extra fuel getting ignited in the exhaust?

I.E. you do a really hard pull at high RPMs and then let off all of a sudden?

here's my question...is that good or bad?

racecars do it because they run so much fuel, so i'm sure its fine for them, but on a street car? i hope you're running a straight pipe or i think something is wrong...

oh and that's why they say not to rev your engine if you have a cat...it will overheat the cat/damage it because you're dumping flames into the exaust when its still cold.

I don't worry about it too much. My cat was demolished about 1 1/2 years ago when I has a really bad miss caused by coolant in the spark plug chamber. Yeah, I thought it would be a great idea to rev the motor up and try to dry the boots out...

Until I saw glowing red chunks flying into the street from my tailpipe. :evil2:

Does happen after a small pull though. WOT for a few seconds. Let off. wait. flame.

upgraded turbo back exhaust, no cats, running pretty rich. It happens.

my best friend scared the shit out of some rice ass neon at a stop light that was tail gating him BAD before the light his mustang often throws flames when revved so he did it and it popped shot a lil flame (its not huge) the ricer kid got this weird look on his face like we just slapped him and lagged like 15 seconds when the light turned green.
