Ran Open DDP

For some reason, I decided to open up my cutout and run open DDP yesterday. :stickpoke

Umm yea, it is INSANELY LOUD. I do not know how some of you guys drive around everyday like this because I get a headache everytime I drive for more than 5 minutes. I'm gettin all kinds of looks, people are freaking out, I'm setting off car alarms, I cant hear my radio.

Dont get me wrong, it sounds pretty mean at idle and WOT, but in between, I dont like it. Also, the car seems to rev faster, and it definately spools faster. And the turbo is LOUD. :bigthumb: I think I'll open it on the track, but not on the street. The headache factor outweighs the "cool" factor.

you learn how to manipulate the throttle to make it quiet.
i could stealth around wicked easy as long as there wasnt an uphill.

it's not that bad after you get used to it. i like it. if i didnt get harassed by cops constantly, i'd have kept it. and probably my license too...

yea its LOUD , i ran open dp when i was "claening" my cat me and a friend jumped in and turned it on and immediatly we could hear our voices echo while we tryed to yell at each other. i seriously had most of my old neighbors looking out the window when i pulled it out of the driveway,

for about 10 minutes then you go deaph.

yeah, idle and on boost it sounds awesome. inbetween sounds like crap.

i drove around like that for about a month. after i started exhibiting co poisoning symptoms and having to yell all the time just to hear my own voice, even when the car was OFF i had to get a muffler on there.....

funny story: when i would park the car and walk away with the turbo timer counting down i could hear it idleing from some distance away. after a week or so of regular use like this i would keep hearing the car idling in my head, and i thought the turbo timer was broke and the car was stuck on! twice i went back to the car to check if it turned off beforei realized that the damn sound was just ringing in my head!

theres no manipulating the throttle on open downpipe :lol:

i tried it the other day on my 1J and god damn i cant do that for more than 3.567 minutes. i noticed my topend was noticeably better, but not worth it!

its ok, i got a test pipe coming in. that will serve fine

I drove to the track like that once, car sounded mean as hell. i contemplated getting an electric cut out and running stock exhaust, just so when I raced I could get that sound at the touch of a button...

I ran a straight-back 3 1/2" and a zero restriction silencer (didn't do much silencing, it was the equivialent of a beer can with a napkin in it) for as long as I could take it...about 2 days!

Cops were pulling me over...scaring the crap out of old people and little kids, all my neighbors were complaining. My girlfriend wouldn't ride in it. Not to mention the migraine inducing middle of the power-band drone that filled up your ears like they were under water.

when i first put my car on the road, i ran open BIC ddp. it was amazing. i did it for like a week or so. (you CAN manipulate the throttle to make it not too loud, but if a hill comes your way, you're screwed!!)

i love the sound, my car is on the verge of running correctly now, and i've still only got the open dp on there. i love it.

i run open DP all the time and love it to death. I think its funny as shit when you pull up to a loud ass truck and your cars louder than them. they just look at you all funny! haha. you can manipulate it. i've learned, when i first got my dp i didnt have enough money for the rest of the exhast so i ran open DP for 1 1/2 months. i was scared i was going to get pulled over and sometimes a cop would pull besides me. so i had to figure it out

i dont know how you guys do it on a daily basis. i had it like that for about 10 minutes just to see the effects in power and sound. i immediately put it back on.

i prefer the tone of my catback alot more. its a nicer sound.

I know Poopra ran his with an open DP for a month or two and it sounded like a mack truck. I would walk out of my house every time a 18wheeler drove by to see if it was him. Definatly awesome. :bigthumb:

I did it yesterday after finishing up my new turbo install just to see how it sounded...holy shit it sound like a pack of angry baboons in a gunny sack fighting for their lives. It made my bones shake at idle. Then I reved it omg......I would get pulled over instantly if I ran it like that on the street.

i unbolted my muffler and had just 3inch hollow cat dumping under my rear axle.damn sounded like a jet turbine winding up and down but too loud.went around the block and its just too loud and i promptly bolted my muffler back up and its peace and quiet at last.Trust mufflers are nice and deep but quiet.
