Can I run an OEM 7mgte radiator on my 1j? Are there many differences or modifications to make it work? Any help is appreciated,

Thanks, Sam

I'm no IJ expert, but i know that there is a temp sensor at the bottom of IJ Rads and 7m Don't.
I'm sure you can block it off (16mm plug), but what would i know...
Some will post up better info.

osco is right, the 7M radiator will work, but there isn't a bung for the hydrofan sensor. If you want to use your hydrofan, you have to get creative with regards to your sensor placement.

Just save up for a KOYO radiator and skip the hassle of trying to fit the 7m RAD.

That thing is like 4HUN... I have the 7M already!!!
Does that aluminum really work better????

I am running the stock 7m radiator and it dropped right in and have not had any issues so far. unless you are running full throttle every where or in hour long traffic jams you don't need any thing more.

Im using an 87 7MGTE Radiator on my 1JZ since my 1JZ rad had a bad leak. Ive got that hydro fan setup and all. Drilled a hole in the rad where the 1JZ temp sensor goes and taped it to the right threads, used lots of High Temp RTV and screwed the temp sensor in. Hasn't leaked even a drop since ~7 months now.

Cool... I cant afford to lose another motor due to overheating!!!!!

Trust me ;)
You WANT a dual core radiator in Phoenix during the summer. Cut the jiggle valve off the thermostat for a small, constant flow through the radiator...don't run a stat less that 180 deg. Make sure your fan clutch is working properly. Check all your hoses in prep for the summer.

It's starting to get hot in the valley...the stock radiator will work, but you are at the limit of it's capacity to transfer heat during a 110 deg + day. And it needs to be in very good condition to do that.

PWR radiators are pretty good too. I have that and FAL Dual Electric fans. The set-up works GREAT!

<--- Looks good too! :icon_wink
