Noticed a hissing type noise when I shut my dearly beloved off popped the hood and heard drops sizzling right under the rad hose, my first thought was that the hose had a lil hole in it. Took it off, didnt notice any holes but when I took the hose off a lil chunk of the radiator came off with it and is stuck inside the hose.

So um...wtf do i do now?

I attached a pic

Replace the rad for $150-250... or replace the engine and the rad for $1500+++ when the rest of the neck breaks off. w/e

Get the regular Koyo.

If it was me and I didnt care if the car lived or died, I'd probably just grind the little 'hose stop' off smooth and shove the hose up onto the neck further and clamp it down, but not so tight as to break it again. :icon_bigg

It sounds like your rad might be on its last leg if pieces of it are coming off. You could just clear out that hose and put it back on if you can or get a new rad hose and slap that one on, but i would suggest having a good look at your rad (check for corrosion on the rad and gunk in the coolant) and replace it if need be. Preventative maintenance with something like this will probably end up saving you money in the end.

Thoughts? Three:

1) Listen to gte. Smart man.

3) Dearly beloves deserve the best of everything. Otherwise they're not dearly beloved.

3) If a 20 year old car is your dearly beloved you have bigger problems than a radiator.

Swapping a rad can be done with a (I think 10mm socket+ratchet) in your driveway in about 10 minutes. Just take the hoses off and look at the 2 (two) bolts you need to remove to pull the radiator out.

The hardest (and longest) part is draining the coolant from the plug in the bottom of the rad.

Judging by the state of that radiator, your coolant will be full of crud and shit. Having crud and shit in your coolant, while not instant engine breakingly horrible, isn't good.

Just do it, you wont regret it.
