rack and pinion

hello everybody im new to the mk3 so i just bought a 1986.5, 5spd, N/A and it was $200 from a friend. Only problem was that the rack and pinion is being held by some wires...... yeah so i wanted to know what is a good price for a used or new one. And i wanted to know how much it will be to change it. Also looking for any mk3 owners arounf my area concord,ca.

That does not sound safe, About the rack and pinion you should try and see of your local autopart store has one like a autozone or a pepboys usually you will have to give them your old one for the core but not all of the time depending on which autopart store you go to. If you do get a used one make sure that it is not leaky and it is is good condition but if I were you I would get a new one. I see them on ebaymotors sometimes and go for about $80-$130(for a 1986.5-88 Supra) for a new one but for a used one it depends on the price because you would have to see how old it is, how good it works, and how good it looks.

Thx for the info, I also wanted to know the diffuculty on changing the rack and pinion, From a scale of 1-10 and if u guys could perhaps tell me how to remove and install it.....:1zhelp:
