r154 tranny install tips

ive searched and searched but i cant find what im looking for. im about to install my tranny and im looking for tips on geting the tops bolts. the engine is already in and i remember taking those bolts out was a pia. i know i can loosen up the motor mounts so the motor can rock. so what can i do to get this tranny in. thanks in advance guys

Yes loosen the motor mounts and get a long extension that will reach from the tail of the tranny there is enough room with the motor tilted back this is the easiest way of doing it.

I put a floor jack under the crank pulley and jacked it up a tad to tilt the motor back after I loosened the motor mounts.

EDIT- And yea, long extensions.

I hate working under the car so I use a ratcheting wrench, but I also have skinny hands.

i know but when i tried to pull the motor and tranny together it wouldnt work. the back of the engine hoist started to raise up and we couldnt shorten it cause we couldnt get it further under the car. if i could i would have done it that wayu

sounds....like your hoist is too small for the job...hehe I won't tell anybody.

if you can't do them together then what the others said above is all you can do to make it easier.

Haha nothing to add except that it's a PIA. I did the same thing jacked it up by the crank pulley and used long extension and U-joint 14mm socket. Good luck
