Im gathering parts for my r154 swap and need to store the trans for a while. Is there anything I should do? I taped up the hose opening and tail shaft opening to keep anything from crawling in. The shifter is bolted in place on it now so nothing should get in that way I think.

Should I fill it with fluid(how much?) or leave it dry? Should I spray wd40 all over it or on certain areas? Anything else to do to keep it in good shape for a few months.

Honestly, if it's only a few months, i stored mine for like 2 years, 'dry' but not completely, I stood it on the bellhousing, covered the rear seal and shifter hole, and that's it...

2 years later I degreased it replaced the seal and installed it... I haven't ran the car yet but I don't have a before to compare it to so it doesn't really matter...

It was stored in a outdoor shed, not exposed to any moisture though, and everything looks like it did when I took it out of the car

Its in my garage and being in Arizona in the summer moisture shouldnt be a problem. I was worried about the seals drying out and the syncros sitting dry without fluid in it.
