i think you mean drop the oil pan, remove the pistons crank rods and put new ones in while the motor is still in the car?

possible, i guess so. fun, hell no. accurate, nope. usually people have the block at least cleaned and gone over to look for cracks, imperfections, crosshatching in the cycls...... wouldnt advise rebuilding unless you pull the motor.

Yea, rebuilding the bottom end in the car is impossible. You could pull of the head and build that....
lol, re-build w/ the bottom end in the car... hm.. i might be wrong, but you have to disassemble the motor to re-build it :D, and re-building w/ the block in the car i guess could be done, but the engine would have to be suspended by a cherry picker in the engine bay w/ the front subframe dropped :icon_conf, i think i'll pass on that... do yourself a favor and invest in an engine stand

That's why I said maybe. ;)
It would be a shitload more work than just pulling it out.
if you were to re-build, yes, that'd be a nightmare, lol.... to do an oil pan gasket, it doesn't take anytime at all

o, and the thing is, the subframe will still be "in the way" unless you completely disconnect it, lol, and that would be flat out stupid

I've pulled my crankshaft out with my cylinder head still attached to the block and the block still inside the engine bay. Of course that was a Civic. The very next week I drove it from Valdosta GA to Portland OR with no problems. I got it up to a whole 125mph outside of Grand Junction, CO.

they only thing ive done where ive left the motor in was take of the valve covers, and the head to do a oem hg replacement but thats it. on the other 3 2 supras ive had ive always has the engine out, just to be safe.

But these little kids out here in little eclipses keep telling me"dude rebuil youre motor in you car mannnn, its so much faster ayh doode"*surfer voice*

Yeah if I were rebuilding an engine it would make it easier to just pull the engine out especially if your going to re-hone the cylinder walls or any sort of cleaning of the block. Also for accuracy purposes it would be wise to pull the whole engine. Tell them to take their crank walking pos's and fuck off and let you work on your car however damn well you choose:)
