well luckily it started up after i got everything back together. after finding all my coolant leaks (loose hoses) and driving it to the gas station then back, it feels like my car is really hot still. the radiator and upper coolant hoses are to hot to even touch for more than 3 seconds. so i just got a new water pump and hopefully that will make things a little cooler.

when i drove to the gas station and then back one hose was leaking because i forgot to put a clamp on it........would this cause it to be really hot like it was???

before i did this job my car backfired/sputtered/popping sound came from the engine/exhaust. now its the same if not even worse. when this happens it actually shakes the engine and sounds like it wants to just shut off and die. anyone ever have this problem? its really annoying

thanks for the help so far!

throwing any codes? mod list? how much coolant did you have to add when you got back from the gas station? running an engine for more than 60 or so seconds with severe lack of coolant is VERY F-ING BAD.

no codes

mods: all stock accept 3" exhaust all the way back and an intake. i didnt add any coolant when i got back because i shut it off right away and let it sit. i heard some gurgling at the gas station so i quick got back to where im working on it. my BIGGEST concern is taking care of this damn heating problem because i drive longer distances in the summer months. think that water pump will help out quite a bit?

keep an eye on the fluid levels, keep an eye on oil pressure. go drive it for 100 miles on little or come back and tell me how its doing. ECU may have to relearn a bit, also if its going to throw a code, it wouldn't do it in a short drive to the gas station, its usually at least 20 miles or so after a reset before my engine throws a code, blasted EGR demons~!

alright well i'll finish it all up tomorrow and hopefully it'll survive. im not leaking any oil, just coolant from that one by pass hose. but thats not big deal, i just forgot to put on a hose clamp.
