I should be getting my blitz nur spec system in a week or two and the previous owner informed me that they are generally to long and need to be modified to fit using a custom test pipe...

No exhaust shops near me will make such a pipe as it's illegal for street use and I'd much prefer a cat!

How did all of you tackle this problem? Does someone sell a shorter cat? I'll run a test pipe if needed but I'd rather not and I'd rather not cut up a $600 exhaust system!

I'll be running a bic ddp also if that changes things....thanks

what kind of cat were you planning to run anyway? do you already have it? you wont know if it is going to be too long until you get the exhaust and mock it up. i know for my cat there was roon on the ends of the cat to cut shorter if needed. i am ure you'll have plenty of space. if not.. either search around for a short cat. or just cut a little bit of the end of either the dp or the exhaust (which ever is less important to you lol) . you dont really have anby other choices lol

I'd rather not cut anything at all as my exhaust system on paper cost me $1200 as it is (I didn't pay that much but it's what it's worth)! I'd rather buy a test pipe or cat already cut to length for a ma70 supra with a blitz nur spec if there is such a product...

you can get a 3 inch cat.. and get an exhaust shop to cut it and weld flanges to make it fit in between the dp and the cat-back.
there should be plenty of space to do that.

cant make your own test pipe? thats what i did on mine

I could but that's a last resort as I want a cat:-(. I really don't know how much longer the blitz is so I have no idea if the concept is that easy...

If some here is running a blitz I was hopeing they could give me the measurements for how long of a cat I'd need...

I'd still need to drive the car with only the downpipe 8 miles to my work where I have tools to do fab work....scared of setting my car on fire lol!

+1 on the make you own test pipe. It's hard making clean welds if you're new in that department.

You could always buy just the canister, and mock up your own so it's tucked away.

Dude...did you read a damn thing I wrote?

Yes let me return my $600 stainless blitz system that I pretty much
paid $200 for so I can buy a $200 canister.

Welding isn't a problem for me on mild steel...stainless I have never welded and I only have a mig welder...bit again "I don't want a test pipe" I want a catalytic converter...

Last resort is a testpipe as I know I can make one easily work!

Actually, I skimmed it.

I don't know the length of your exhaust from the BIC DDP to the catback... but tweak with the cat and weld the flanges to fit? There's always some play room in there, unless it ends up pushing the canister out like a sore thumb.

bougth a BIC testpipe. cut and welded to length. i think 9" from end to end sounds familiar stock being 11". could be wrong though. to lazy to source or make flanges.

btw i love how my car sounds. i get compliments all the time. i usually roll with the silencer to be more stealth. doesn't seem to slow the car down at all.

my test pipe was 10 3/4" long with the blitz, but my downpipe didn't fit completely straight.

btw, the blitz is very nice quality, you will love it.

Gaboon - I have a Blitz Nur. All I did was "tweak" the hangers and it fit fine on my CAT...the CAT is an Exhaust Depot high flow. However, welding a 1-2" extension/flange to the rear of the CAT will work just as well or better. I would fit the CAT to the DP and hang the NUR to get the exact extension length required.

the blitz nur spec should bolt up to the stock cat. Mine bolt up to the stock cat.

Some do, some don't. Most the time the Blitz Nur is a bit short (~1").
That's why I suggested he hang the exhaust with the CAT on the DP to see exactly how much, if any.

so your cat was a bit too short then? with the extension flange you think it will fit perfect eh? this is exactly the type of info im looking for..thanks dub!

dont understand what was so hard about asking how to make something work without hacking anything while still useing a cat.

the previous owner told me this one is to long....he had to make a shorter test pipe if im not mistaken.....i dont know if his downpipe would have anything to do with that thoug....maybe his dp was too long?

i was under the impression that there was not going to be enough space from what you said . I was trying to say there should be plenty of space between the dp and cat-back to work with the cat
sorry for any missunderstanding on my part :)

That's my point - the current version of the Blitz Nur has near perfect fitment on USDM cars. The older versions were made for JDM cars, hence the length issue. The DP is obviously a factor as well - mine is a SP custom DP mated to the GT-61, it resulted in the Blitz being a bit short. Best thing to do is hang the DP and Blitz and see where you are. Like I said, I did no welding at all, just bent the hangers a bit and bolted the Nur up.
