Questions about my rear end.

Well, First off, I have an A340E Tranny (fairly new)...and the last couple months that it's been in my car, it's been WONDERFUL. However, this thread is not focusing on my tranmission so I just wanted to clear it out of the way before any arguments or discussions get started.

My car used to be a burnout monster. Before even getting to 1900rpms, the tires would break loose and off and away goes the smoke. Well, over about a 4 month period, I have noticed that it takes longer and longer to even spin. I am to the point now where it takes literally 10 seconds (while the pedal is on the floor) to even beginning spinning the tires. (I do like it like this because I can build up boost and not have to worry about spinning off the line):naughty: ...My main focus on where I am getting at is this...
What is it that is slowly dying down? Is it my ENTIRE rear end as a whole, The Torque Converter(stall) or something else? I have a feeling that somewhere soon down the road, I am going to need to replace it...and If it IS the stall, then it would work out good because I'll be upgrading soon anyways. Thanks in advanced.:icon_bigg

Well, the first 3-4 months I owned this car, I was FASCINATED by it's power and ease to burnout...;)...I haven't done anything much like that recently, but I can tell it's going slowly. The RPM's are still the same as before...The Boost amount at each RPM is still the same...Only difference is is that the wheels don't spin as easily...

Was it both wheels?? or just one??

A good LSD diff will hold, and both wheels will get traction.
A wornout LSD diff (clutch pack not effective), or a non-LSD diff, will only spin one tire, (the one with the least amount of traction).

Changing the oil to a synthetic can only be a good thing for the diff.

I've been using Amsoil for 3 years. Royal Purple, and others are good too.

few things.

be careful doing a brake torque for very long. the tranny fluid gets really hot quick.

aside from the burnout, does the car feel down on power?

any luck w/ the line pressure cable adjustment?

did you check the fluid in the diff? is it full? does it smell burnt?

changing the tranny fluid in an auto is a pita. most of the fluid stays in the converter and will take either a dump and fill multiple times or do it w/ a machine.

I've got a fresh tranny in there; I have already installed a Tranny cooler and have noticed that it is much smoother. I have noticed NO power shortage:)...Even before the 60-1. The line pressure cable, I adjusted a while ago and it is good now... No, I have not checked the fluid in the Diff. Where/how do I check that? Never done it before...

Hey, it happens to everyone eventually. And just for the record, I don't really like how you come across making it sound like I do it all the time. It's not like a daily thing...and I don't SMOKE MY TIRES OFF JDM TYTE YO BURNOUTS. I'm simply not that type of person...However, The previous owner, although "took care of the car", definately took advantage of it being RWD.
I already stated once in this thread that I am wanting to know WHAT it is that could be giving me failure...I didn't ask for a lesson on what and when is appropriate for burnouts. Anything else, shoot me a PM. Thanks.

there is a plug on the rear of the diff. you just take that off and stick your finger in there haha. it should be at the top if its full. after you have your finger soaked in fluid look at it to see if it looks funny, has any kind of shrapnel in it. then take a smell of it and see if it smells burnt. finally, lick your finger. it should taste like apple pie. if it tastes like cherry pie, there is your problem. ok im just kidding. dont really lick your finger.

I've come to a conclusion....(ONLY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO LISTEN AND NOT BITCH :nono:). <---(Rant).

Anyways, as I've thought about it...It's just now hit me.
The .57 Trim I had on there in the beginning, it spooled about 2800, then with the rebuilt stocker, it spooled about 2600-2700, with this 60-1, it spools about 2850-2900...Well, Before this turbo, when brake boosting, it would build up boost easily.........where am I getting at? This 60-1 compressor wheel is like double the size of the stock one...which would mean it requires MORE air to spool...making it HARDER to spool at that low of RPMS(1800 or so).......And it won't build up boost.

It makes sense. If I put my foot on the brake, then floor it, RPM's reach 1800, sit at 1800, boost is right on 0psi, and nothing else happens...Wheel is too big, takes higher RPMs before spooling, therefore, meaning tires will not spin.

What do you guys think?

This leads me to another question. Would it do anything to get a bigger stall? Say, I get a 3400 stall...This just means I can take the RPMs that high before it spins...or does this mean there will be more power to allow the turbo to spool? I'm sorry if this is frusterating, but I, as well, am confused at this point. Feedback. ;)

Hey Jspec. What you said makes sense. I don't know if it's right or not, but to the average bear it makes a lot of sense. Hope you get this riddle solved.

My question is ...........what does OMGYWTFBBQBHG MEAN. I know what most of it stands for but what does the bbq stand for?
Anyways, I hope this question doesn't fall under the bitching or rant categorie.........lol
