Question on routing tubing for mechanical oil pressure gauge.

A friend of mines however did address a potential problem with the mechanical gauge and tubing that i just bought and that is heat.

Im gettiin the oil pressure from the stock oil pressure sender unit and the shortest way is to run the tubing near the exhaust manifold to the firewall into he interior to the gauge, but when boosting or boosting long periods of the time, the heat from the manifold may melt the tubing etc etc etc he pointed out which i think make sense.

So how do you guys run your mechanical oil pressure gauge tubing on your 7m?

Or does everybody go electrical now?

or do you guys tap into it from a diff source?

If this information is needed, the motor is still in the car.

really makes no sense to use mechanical oil gauges these days in my opinion...especially with the gauge in the cockpit....i wouldnt mind haveing a mechanical mounted under the hood but not inside. electronic gauges are very good these days and much easier to route threw a car.

if i was you id mount the mechanical gauge on the shock tower if you absolutely wanted to use the thing.

oh yea man nah at first i had a whole automter mechanical oil pressure guage and it came with tubbing and its own sender and then the adapter to make it fit in the 7m block.

Mechanical oil and fuel pressure gauges should only be mounted outside of the cabin of the car.

I can't stress this enough folks. It's a recipe for disaster and you are risking your life if you run one in this manner.

I'm glad the OP switched to an electrical gauge.
