Question on Head gasket and RTV

Ok, so I have come to the next problem in my rebuild. I'm ready to install the head, and I know I'm supposed to put a small bead of RTV on the timing case to engine block joints. My question is, does the headgasket normally go over top of these beads of RTV, or are these spots only covered by RTV. My new head gasket covers these areas, so I'm wondering if I should still do the RTV or if the headgasket alone is enough. As always, thanks in advance.

Yes, use the RTV as per the TSRM. And yes, the gasket extends over the timing case opening. That's how it seals it so no oil gets out.

So the RTV is normally covered by the headgasket as well?

Where the Timing case meets the block the gasket will stick up slightly I trim this with a sharp scraper so it's flush then use a smear of RTV on that join.
Way ahead of you on that, but excellent advice, lol. I really appreciate all the help I'm getting from SM members on this project.
