Question for the pros

I need to change my oil pressure sending unit and cant decide on which one. I was thinking of just buying one from toyota for my 7m, so its like the old one, but, I found one at Prosport gauges and it has an oil gauge and an electric opsu.

So I just wanted a pros point of view. Anybodys point of view actually. Thanks for the help.

General Rule of Thumb: Stock gauges are crap! An aftermarket gauge will serve you well.

BTW.....What is an electric opsu?

Stock oil pressure gauge is electric and actually quite accurate (if a bit slow).

yes, opsu is an oil pressure sending unit. I just got lazy and didnt type it out. Well my oil pressure has been acting weird so, Im going to start fixing the small before I have to tear down the engine. Im hoping that its just the oil pressure unit.

So go with the prosport gauge and pressure unit...or just buy an oem one?

They both cost the same.

Just remember the thread pitch might be different. I installed a Autometer oil pressure sending unit and it leaked a bit. Then I found out on the other forum that the thread pitch was different and I had to buy an adapter from autometer. Have not put in on yet as I am deployed in the desert. It is on the list of things to do when I get home.

There's an adapter on Prosport's website that you'll need to buy if you want to use their sending unit in the stock location. The adapter costs about $10.

Keep in mind that the stock oil pressure gauge is used by the ECU.

You're better off getting an oil filter sandwich adapter and putting the aftermarket gauge sender in that and leaving the factory sender in place.

Or put the aftermarket sender on a M/F adaptor and screw it into the forward port, I did this when I still had my stock dash and wanted the MoTeC to have fast accurate OP input.
