question about the head

This might be a stupid question, iv searched and couldnt come up with any deffinate answer. Is the head aluminum or steel? and are the mhg reusable. say my car has one now and im gunna take the head off would i be able to just put the head back on, or would i have to get a new one? Thanks in advance.

head is aluminum, and from what ive read the MHG is reusable i wouldnt reuse it tho. Why are you taking the head off? if the gasket is blown to any extent you cant reuse it.

if the gasket isnt blown use some permatex brake quiet and/or copper spray

just bought a turbo car, has apr bolts and a hks mhg. im doin a na/turbo swap into my surpa and i was just gunna go thru the motor. use the permatex brake quiet along with the mhg?

With the correct RA finish on a perfectly squared head and block, you should not need the use of any other materials than the metal headgasket itself.

With that said, I can't see how it would hurt.

everytime i assemble engine parts i always use a lil disk quiet on the gaskets even if they say its not needed. just a little extra insurance everything is gonna seal up right.
