Hey everyone, I have an 87 turbo with tems and I am trying to figure out what kind of struts I want. I am getting rid of the tems so I am not worried about the electronic suspension so much. I am trying to decide on either KYB, Tokico, or Bilsteins. I heard mixed reviews on all of them, so I am just trying to get some feedback from guys who actually had them on thier mk 3s.
:1zhelp: Thanks

I've got the KYB GR2s, they are ok, and their ride quality is about average. It's better than stock but they are really not meant for more aggressive driving styles. However they are perfect for around town driving. This is on stock springs so they might perform better on some performance springs.

you can remove your TEMS and just get some struts and some sport springs and then they will go right? or will you need to buy some non-TEMS strut top hats/plates?

True. You can just get non-TEMS shocks to replace your old TEMS shocks. No modification is necessary

I hear that tokico brakes easliy. 935motorsport has the best selection for you. They offer the kyb gr-2 but also the agx for the fronts. The supra is very front heavy and the agx are one of the strongest ones.

I had tokico hp's (the blue ones) and they all blew out in a year. The handling was great but the ride was a little too rough for me. Tokico does offer a lifetime warranty on their shocks(provided you send in the warranty card) if you're willing to deal with having the hp's blow out on you every 15k.

However, I have illumina II's now and they are great. I got them used, already a year old and i've had them for another year and they haven't blown yet. I like the ride quality much better on them as well.

EDIT: One additional note about going from tems shocks to non-tems ones: you need washers to act as a spacer on top the shock rod. The tems mounting hardware usually acts as the spacer and without it sometimes you will not be able to sufficiently tighten the nut on the shock rod.
