Question about pre-89 spoilers

Ok so i know that 87 and 88 spoilers have different 3rd brake lights, my car is an 88 but i bought a spoiler off an 87 and i dont really like the rectangular brake light but more of the newer style 88 model, i see that there are 2 bolts holding the rectangle brake light to the spoiler, i was wondering if the 88 lights are interchangeable to the 87 spoiler?

IIRC they are interchangeable,not positive on that though.I ended up fitting an old honda accord brakelight to mine as the first style of light IS ugly

I'm not sure what year Accord the light came off of,bought it 10+yrs ago with the spoiler.I just took it out of the old spoiler and rough measured the opening,then cut the opening in my spoiler about 1/8" undersized and slowly hand fitted around the edge with a block and 80 grit.The rear edge of our spoilers are pretty thick(~1/4")had to cut a small step in it as that is how the top edge of the light is held in(top edge of light has a step in it too)Then had to glass in 3 small angle brackets inside the spoiler,the light bolts in from underneath,three bolts angle up and towards the back to hold the light against the step on the top.The light is pretty thick on the face so once mounted I sanded w/300 grit to fit the contour of the spoiler perfect,then just cleared the lens.I'm thinking about doing the night shade tint on the lens so you wont even see the light unless brakes are applied.If I take the spoiler back off the car I will post pics of how it mounts from underneath(can't take it out w/spoiler on the car)Here's a pic with the light on.

Thank you.It was pretty easy,just time consuming.I prefer the 1 piece over the 3 piece spoiler,just wanted an led brake light.

Should fit,may have to find a way to mount it securely,metal drywall anchors work well.

Very very nice install on the light. I much prefer the accord light over the square centre light. It flows quit well for sure! Something else I shall aspire to do one day hah!

^ most definately, when i saw the other spoilers on the forums i hated my spoiler with the lego block brake light, hmm ill see what light would work best, right now im leaning towards LED strip
