will the FCD eliminate speed cut and boost cut? and also which is the best one to get (greddy-HKS)?

i dont have the MBC on the car, so running stock boost at 12psi. took the car on the freeway today for the first time and when i got to third gear at around 5500-6000 i hit fuel cut, i think there was a boost spike but not sure, i was going about 85 when it cut fuel cut and my and check engine light came on for one sec. code 34

HKS FCD is good for D-jetro(map sensor) using motors, and Greddy's unit is good for L-jetro (MAF sensor) using motors. In your case the HKS would be better as long as you set it up right, you have to adjust the dial on the FCD so that boost cut is right above your target psi, this will give you the most fuel. If you dont adjust the FCD properly you will be cheating your self of fuel witch can lead to catastrophic engine damage. With the HKS unit you will still be able to hit a boost cut around 17psi, This makes it safer if your going to be screwing around with your boost alot. hope this helps

thank you monster2j for the info, sounds like hks is the one ill be getting.

im not looking to even turn my boost up, i just want to be able to go (wot) through the gears. once the turbos fail is when i will go single and then i will be messing with boost:)

anyone know if it eliminates speed cut as well?

As far as i know it doesnt eliminate speed cut, you will need a Greddy speed cut eliminator, some other eliminator, or most tuning software. Also the HKS FCD is only good for the stock twins, if your going to a big single the FCD will lean your 1J out too much with the stock fuel system. If you do use it make sure you check your A/F you will most likely need a tune to compensate for the increased fuel loss.

With big exhaust yes. As for speed, cut the damned wire lol.

guess ill just let off the gas alittle untill i go standalone....

i like my power stearing and abs lol, but ill make a switch to turn it off when needed (wont be very often)...so i kinda cut it hahaha.

i am hearing that when you tune with a safc you can raise boost cut, is this true?

my car is boosting to 15psi (not using a boost controller) with my exhaust system, granted it is pretty cold out, 45*, but i hate hitting boost cut in 2nd 3rd 4th gear everytime:(

i dont realy want to use a fcd or a bcd to get around this, but i will if i have to because im not going to put the stock exhaust on just so i can go through the gears, lol.......

thanks for any help ppla:)

so i went with the hks FCD and it works great. i searched around on what setting to put it at, and the only thing i could find was to set it to 9. after that the A/F's were in the 13's in wot, so i set it to 10 and that's were it was perfect, A/F's were now staying in the 11.5 then at 7000 rpm, it hit 11.0. boost was staying at 15psi the hole time. i did about five pulls from 2nd to 5th gear and it was running realy strong!

question about apexi safc-i was going to go with it to get around the fuel cut, but when i used it on my 7mgte i had to shift at 5500 rpm's because the power feel off due to timing being pulled. i was never happy with that and would not want to even use one if it does the same on the 1jz.
does the safc have the same effect on the 1jz?

thank you monster2j for getting me the FCD!!!

umm smart people wouldnt just go big single if they arent planning on making more than stock power. so, they would prolly upgrade the fuel system along with that. but then again you'd never know with the people on this forum

and please do explain how FCD is better for map based and BCC is better in MAF based system. what are the advantages?
