Question about 1JZ mounts and transmision!

I have two questions:

1. I've found two 1JZ's with MANUAL transmissions here in the Dominican Republic. Can I use that tranny in my '88 MK3? Or does it need custom work to fit in? Because in here, most people with 1JZ's or 2JZ's use the 7M-GTE tranny because those JZ engines almost never come with manual tranny. So, would I be better off buying this engine I found with manual tranny? Or is it recommended to use the 7M-GTE tranny with this engine? (for which I will need a bellhousing, I know).

2. Has anyone used these things, to mount their 1JZ's in their 86-88 MK3? http://www.bicperformance.com/produ...st wondering. I'm considering going this way.

1jz manual trans IS the same as the 7mgte trans, just uses different flywheels and a different bellhousing.

I cant speak from experience on the BIC mounts but everthing I have heard about them is positive. Plus if you use those and decide to go with an aftermarket Y pipe you dont need to grind out the mounts like us 89+ guys do.

Ah, so I guess it should be okay to buy a 1JZ-GTE with the manual tranny, better yet.

The BIC mounts... I mentioned it to a mechanic, and he said "forget about, we solve it"... but I know they WELD the mounts that do not fit. Can someone tell me exactly which mount(s) do not work on 86-88 MK3's for the 1JZ? I wouldn't want them to weld. Maybe I should buy these BIC mounts and just bring them to the mechanis, and say "USE THIS OR DIE!".... =P

The BIC mounts bolt into place on the block and allow you to use your 86-88 mounts. That way you dount have to swap the crossmember to an 89+ and use the 89+ mounts or worse yet weld some weird mount onto the crossmember.

Those BIC mounts look like they would make it pretty easy to drop the motor in. I actually cut a wedge out of the stock mounts on the crossmember and weld it back at a different angle, then the stock 89 up mounts and brackets that come on the clip work fine. But his are a simple bolt on affair and BIC makes nice stuff from what I have seen. We just put his 7m ddp on a Cressida and it is very nice too.

I replied to your pm but your inbox is full:
I have several different fmic's for under $180, depending on the size you want. I have a purfect size one for a 1jz. I will send a pic tomorrow.
