Ok folks, I have decided to get Ron's FFI. Is the q45 tb all it's cracked up to be for the cost? Granted it's large and will flow more but how big a turbo would be needed to outflow the stock TB. I am going to be running a Greddy T67 kit on the street between 15-17 psi with an attempt to get in the 425 rwhp range. I don't see where I would outflow the stock tb with those numbers or am I wrong? I don't mind spending the extra but I don't like throwing money in something that won't do me any good with the goals I have. I have no desires to go any higher as far as hp as this is a daily driver and if I wanted 500 + monster, I would build a 5.0 supercharged or turbo fox body stang.

stock tb at 65mm will flow quite a bit.

but my advise. If you are going with an FFI. Think about going with a 87-93 5.0 Mustang TB mount plate instead. They come in all sorts of sizes. From 60mm to a nice beefy 105mm ;) And they are very affordable (well 5.0 parts are cheap but you knew ;) ) Just need to work the stock TPS onto the ford TB. But IMO this is the best way to go.

We've flowed over 500 whp through a stock, at 18 psi, so The stocker isn't bad. But the mustang ones look much nicer.

Yeah figgie I agree with you. I think I will probably just keep the stocker so it is basically plug and play. However, I will PM Ron and see if he can adapt a ford on his manifold with the TPS. What is a good price for a ford one? On a side note, I have often wondered why folks go after crazy numbers as far as hp on the MK3. Granted I love the car, always have since they were new... but it gets real expensive on these things past the 450 mark and reliablility becomes very suspect. Fox bodys are light, cheap, and can get in the 600 hp range for a lot less. I had a 10.9 sec sb chevy back in the day. Granted, that was with slicks and someone else driving because I was only 17 and didn't know how to launch that well, but I can say that kind of power has no business on the street. Low to mid 12's is all I am after on the road.

The throttle body off of a 1UZ (lexus v8 70mm))is larger and the TPS plugs in to our harness and they can be found for cheap I paid 55$ for mine
you can get into the 12s with an upgraded CT26 60 trim with a set of drag radials 400ish hp

Maybe it was the stock throttle body holding him back...

um, why do you need 500 hp to run 12's?

My car went a 12.84 @ 117.5 mph, 1.81 60' at 15 psi on a 57 trim. This was accomplished using khumo escta supra 712's 245/40R17... 35 psi in the tires. It was 83 degrees outside. This was on a 5 speed car.

You only need 500 hp if you can't drive!!!

Maybe he's thinking about it like the MK4's old saying; "what does a 600, 700, and 800 horsepower supra have in common? They all run 10 sec 1/4 miles..." :biglaugh:
