Hi guys!
I was going to rewire my KS, got some coaxial cable and almost cut old wiring, but decided to measure resistance of new coax...
So I've got about 1.4 Ohms for 3 meters of coax cable.
Then I measured resistance of original wiring and got about 0.3 Ohms...

Here's the question: Have anybody measured resistanse of your custom KS wiring?
Can I use that coaxial cable, or should I buy another?

i used coax with no issues. i'll be able to measure the resistance of mine for you tomorrow, if you'd like. maybe someone will beat me to it, but tomorrow is the first chance i'll get.

Ok, have anybody measured resistance?

to Vladimir: Why only 1 end? I thought, that both ends should be grounded: one to engine block, anopther - to ECU box. Am I wrong?

PS: guys, don't you think, If we are using cable with more resistance, we make ECU hear less noises? Sad, but I haven't osciloscope to see, what is going on these KS1 and KS2 terminals...

Denis, I don't remember right technical explanation, they call it loop grounding or something like that. I have read that only one side of wire shield has to be grounded and I grounded KS plug ends on my car.
Measured resistance of 2 feet length of coaxial cable I used - it is 0.1ohm

have you ever heard of the term "ground loops"? thats why we dont ground both ends. :)

i'll go out and measure mine now.

If you ground both ends, then it doesn't insulate any more. The whole thing is that you have a grounded "sheath" around the signal wire so no interferance can get in. If you ground both sides then it's just a 2 conductor wire, and RF can get right in.

Thank you for explanation about shielding!
Please measure resistance somebody else (to compare to Vladimir's result), looks like mine coax cable has too much resistane.
As for ebay - not in my country ;-)

alrighty, the resistance of my ENTIRE harness from ECU end to KS connector end:

0.5ohm

no. i grounded mine inside to prevent any corrosion from getting to it, though...

In all honesty, the coax mod has been around so long, I'm not even sure why it's being debated.

As for where to ground the cable, I've had good luck with the engine bay solely because it's cramped under the dash as is.

there's a good ground under the dash, to the upper right of the ECU. it's a stud where the dash support bar connects to the passenger's side, if i remember correctly. it was super easy to get to, and a nice, clean, shiny ground.
